WINDOWS 7 BEGINNERS COURSE

Trainer Dawne's Windows 7 for Beginners Course started today, and it was her Assistant Trainer Christina's first experience of helping conduct a training course.

Student Lorraine looks like she is wasting time playing Solitaire, but she is not. Lorraine has a bit of trouble using the mouse, so playing Solitaire is an excellent way of learning mouse control, with all the clicking and "drag and dropping" that is involved in playing this game.

Dawne's course preparation is excellent  -  today she
wore this very small usb ear ring......

....... just so she could show it to her students with other large usbs!  That's real class, Dawne

Dawne with her students Robyn and Lorrained at the end of Day 1 of the 5 week course....and a happy Christina who survived her first day as an Assistant Trainer.,...well done, Christina!

LEARNING HOW TO MAKE SIMPLE PHOTOBOOKS

Another Photobook Course was commenced today, with five students who are learning how to make a photobook.

Because of our computers "Deep Freeze", it is not possible to download various available photobook progams to our training computers. Therefore, our Club can only use "cloud computing", because the program resides online, and students upload their photos to where the program is located, and then create their book. The program used by Hazel for training is www.snapfish.com.au

Our new computers and screens are ideal to make and view photobooks

Jan has made photobooks before, and is keen to learn more about creating bigger and better photobooks.

The course runs for another four weeks, Hazel and I look forward to seeing their completed photobooks....and we are sure you would like to see their photobooks too?

Ps. If you would like to easily Follow this Blog, just add your email address to the box above "Follow by email".

PHOTOGRAPHS FOR OUR ARCHIVES

Helen Nagiel, a regular attendee at our field trips, recently provided our Club with her photographs of the recent trip to Darling Harbour Maritime Museum and also our 2012 bus trip to the Hunter.

Helen is a keen photographer and is aware that our Club wants members' photographs for our archives.

Here are a couple of the photos that Helen uploaded to our Club computers  ---

If you have photographs of members attending Club activities, please contact me or any of the Committee. Its a simple process to copy and paste pics from your camera's card to our computers. Or you can do it yourself, just copy and paste to a USB and bring it into the club, and we will preserve your photos in our club external hard drives.

Thanks Helen for your donation...............................

ANDROID SPECIAL INTEREST GROUP MEETING

I spent this afternoon at the Android SIG with Deborah and Peter assisting thirteen (unlucky?) members to learn lots of things about their tablets and phones.

After a while, this is what I saw -

Everybody was looking at tablets!

Then we broke up for afternoon tea.

They couldn't get away from tablets, looked at them even while drinking coffee during the break!

What is the attraction with tablets? Some members even take them to bed at night!

Well, if you are considering buying a tablet/smart phone and want to know, book for our Club's FREE (except for $4 towards room hire) 2 hour "Introduction to tablets and smart phones" on Friday 25 October from 1.15pm to 3.30pm to hear the good news about tablets and smart phones from Margaret, Deborah and Peter.

If you can't make it on the 25th, come along to the next regular Android SIG on Friday 1 November. Once you get used to a tablet you will be hooked on them.....................

OCTOBER 2013 MEMBERS' SOCIAL LUNCH

Two tables of the 20 happy members who enjoyed our regular outing today at Merrylands Bowling Club for an "all you can eat" lunch.

"Young" Hazel 1 looked great wearing her double string of pearls....and her sister Beryl closed her eyes for the camera!

Oh, I don't wear pearls.................I don't need them!

Term 4 starts next week, our Trainers, volunteers and members are ready to meet again at our Club for courses, meetings
 and social contact...........................................
